EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, THE CIVIL FILING FEES IN CRAWFORD COUNTY ARE INCREASING FROM $212.00 TO $217.00; NOTARY APPLICATION FEES ARE INCREASING FROM $37.00 TO $42.00

To:  Attorneys and Other Filing Parties

This year the Georgia General Assembly enacted Act Number 458 (legislated as HB 851) which amends provisions relating to county law libraries.  The bill eliminated a previously long-standing provision that required clerks of superior court to deduct the amount payable to the county law library from the filing fee for a civil action and therefore upon the effective date of the act, the filing fee for a superior court civil action increased by $5.00 (the amount determined by superior court judges to be collected for the local library).

HB 851 became effective upon the governor's signature on April 26th, 2016.

Effective immediately, the civil action filing fee for Crawford County is $217.00.  Also increased by this bill is the application fee for a notary public, which has now increased to $42.00.

If you have any questions regarding this increase, please contact the office at (478) 836-3328.

Sincerely,

Ryan Johnson, Crawford County Clerk of Superior Court
